FlamePOS is point of sale software published by Quasar AI Lab. This statement explains what the software does with your information, what this website records, and what we hold when you buy a licence or ask for help.
The short version. FlamePOS runs on your own computer and keeps your sales in your own database. It does not send your sales, your customers or your takings to us. We hold only what you send us yourself when you contact us or buy a licence.
The software
FlamePOS installs its own PostgreSQL database on your computer. Your products, sales, staff and customer records stay there, under your control.
- No usage tracking. The application contains no analytics and sends us no reports about how, when or whether you use it.
- No activation server. A licence is a signed file. It is checked on your own computer, so nothing is transmitted when it is installed or verified. The installation code shown in the licence screen is generated on your machine.
- Fiscal reporting is between you and the tax authority. When fiscal receipting is enabled, sales are reported to the Vanuatu Sales Monitoring System using credentials issued to your business. That data goes from your computer to the tax authority's service. It does not pass through us, and we cannot see it.
- Checking for a new version. When FlamePOS starts, it asks this
website whether a newer version has been released, and shows you a line on the
login screen if one has. It sends nothing but the request itself, which tells us
the same thing any download does: an IP address and which version asked. It does
not identify you, your licence or your business, and it never sends anything about
your sales. It downloads and installs nothing on its own. If you would rather it
did not ask, set
update_check_enabled=falsein your FlamePOS configuration file and it will stop, with no other effect on the software. - Backups stay local unless you copy them somewhere yourself.
This website
The site carries no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts or fonts. Nothing here follows you between sites.
Downloading an installer needs an invitation code. Redeeming one records the code against the moment it was used, so that it cannot be used twice; the code is not linked to a name, and asking for one costs nothing but an email.
Like any web server, it writes an access log so the site can be kept running and secure, and so we can tell how often a release is downloaded. Once a day that log is reduced to plain counts and the log itself is deleted on its usual fortnightly cycle. The country is worked out on our own server from a list that ships as a package; nobody is told you visited.
| Recorded | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| IP address, date and time, page or file requested, browser and referring page | Operating and securing the site; counting downloads | Rotated automatically, normally about 14 days |
| Invitation codes: the code itself, and when it was used, from which address and with which browser | Each code is good for one download; this is how a code is known to have been spent | Kept while the code matters — tell us and we will delete yours |
| Daily totals: how many times each file was downloaded, from which countries, on which kind of device, and which site the visit came from. No addresses — these are counts, not records of anyone | Knowing whether a release is reaching the shops it was made for | Kept, because a total of a fortnight tells us nothing |
These logs are not combined with anything else, not used to build a profile, and not sold or shared.
When you contact us or buy a licence
A licence request sends us what is needed to issue it. You can see the whole message before it is sent — nothing is collected behind your back.
- Your name, business name and contact details
- Your installation code, the plan you have chosen and the number of tills
- The version of FlamePOS you are running
- Proof of payment, which you attach yourself and which may show bank details
We use this to issue your licence, to keep the accounting records the law requires of us, and to answer you. We do not use it for marketing and we do not pass it to anyone else, other than to our bank when processing your payment or where the law requires it.
Records connected with a sale are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require. Support correspondence is kept while it is useful, and then deleted.
Keeping it safe
This site is served only over an encrypted connection. Licence records are held on systems we control, and access is limited to those who need it to issue licences and provide support.
Your choices
You may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Write to the2.71828@gmail.com and we will respond.
Children
FlamePOS is business software and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this statement changes, the date at the top changes with it. Where a change matters to existing customers, we will say so when we write to you.
